Your snow holiday is not complete if you have not experienced this once.
Whiz down the mountain alone or in pairs. You can go down the mountain during the day on the BrentAlm to the bottom of the village.
Every Wednesday and Friday evening there is a great toboggan run from the Ehrwalder Alm on an illuminated slope.
Be careful with drinking, these evenings can be very nice;).
The “Zugspitz Arena” stands for miles of hiking fun in winter. Ideal for the non-skiers, while the children or grandchildren are skiing, walking through the fresh snow.
The hiking trails are maintained daily by mini snowploughs. You can get walking tickets at the tourist office.
All walks are well signposted so you won’t get lost without a map. The hiking trails that are cleared in winter are good for everyone. You can also handle these roads with a slightly less good condition. The 3 villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier are located in a very large valley, so you can also walk for miles on end. You also always have the option to commute with the ski bus in the valley. For example, you can be dropped off in one village and walk to your destination.
Walk 1: The meadow road between Ehrwald and Lermoos.
The ideal walk to start your winter holiday. Very easy and completely flat. You walk between 2 walls of snow from one village after another. In Ehrwald you start at hotel “Zum Grünen Baum”, where you descend to the meadow and in Lermoos you usually leave opposite the campsite or past “hotel Post”. The walk takes about 45 minutes and you have the best views along the way. There are many benches so you can always enjoy somewhere in the sun. A river runs along the road so you can hear the rippling water all the time. Also take your time to look in the river, the water is so clear that you see the trout swimming! You can find them especially in the shadow of the bridges. Early in the morning this river sometimes creates a fairytale effect, there is a low fog and the trees in the meadow are full of snow.
Walk 2: The panoramic road between Ehrwald and Lermoos.
A nice walk with only a bit of up and down in the beginning and end. In Ehrwald you leave near the Esso petrol station, just under the big bridge and then up to the left. From Lermoos the walk starts near the station, where you ascend for about 10 minutes. Then you stay at the same height until the descent to Ehrwald begins. This walk takes about 60 minutes, along the way there are benches with a beautiful view of the valley and the ski slopes on the other side of the valley. About halfway there is also an Austrian private chalet with a bench in the sun and a guest book ( hüttebuch). Hundreds of people have already described their admiration for the fairytale valley here. Definitely worth reading these comments, enjoying the sun. The hut is about 50 meters from the hiking trail.
A romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride? Ideal for a comfortable tour through the area. You can usually find the sleigh with the charioteer in front of the church at the square.
On several evenings it is possible to descend on illuminated slopes. A.o. in Berwang and Lermoos the slopes are opened in the evening for an adventurous descent under artificial light.
